With full disclosure, I am a content writer responsible for many of the blog posts here. Still, I can say with 100% transparency and honesty that I was a satisfied customer before I ever wrote a word for VEGAMOUR. That’s why when I was asked to try and review its new ENSO Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair, I was like "Yes, please!"

Read on to find out more about my hair story, including the smart hair care system you really should be using if you have fine hair.

What Is Fine Hair?

Science is my jam, and hair science is my focus for VEGAMOUR, so of course, I'm going to give a quick lesson on hair type versus texture. Here goes.

Though the terms are used interchangeably, hair texture and hair type are actually two different things. Texture applies to the individual hair strand (or shaft) of hair and can be fine, medium or thick (sometimes called coarse). Type refers to your head of hair as a whole and whether it’s straight, wavy, curly or kinky. When thinking of hair wellness, you’ll want to meet the needs of both the individual strands and your mane as a whole.

Fine strands are also the softest and most delicate of the textures. The best part about fine hair texture is that it tends to be soft to the touch, silky-looking and less frizzy than medium or thick hair. The not-so-great things about fine hair are that it is the most prone to breakage, tends to resist heat styling and can be easily weighed down by product.

My Care For Fine Hair

So now that you know a little bit more about fine hair, how can you incorporate that knowledge into your hair care game? Learn from my mistakes!

For starters, fine hair needs a soft touch. I learned a long time ago what excess heat styling can do. When I was younger, I went through a period of using a straightener on my hair every single day. Soon enough, I started noticing a lot of flyaways, which actually was visible breakage. Now that I know better, I avoid heat styling for the most part. And when I do occasionally use hot tools, I always apply a thermal protectant to my hair.

I also had to go through a lot of trial and error before I finally figured out that all fine hair products are not created equal. I regrettably invested in tons of products, including shampoo for fine hair, which did nothing but weigh down my fine strands. Then I tried ENSO and everything changed!

My Experience With ENSO 01 Shampoo for Fine Hair

Granted, fine hair generally needs less product, but compared to the five pumps I need from my go-to volumizing shampoo, I only need a quarter-sized amount or so of ENSO 01 Shampoo for Fine Hair. And that's enough to luxuriously lather up everything from my scalp to the ends of my strands! A little ENSO goes a long way!

But the praise doesn't end there. The shampoo (and the conditioner) have intuitive technology, powered by VEGAMOUR’s vegan keratin, Karmatin™, which adjusts to the hair on contact to provide the perfect amounts of moisture, volume, repair and protection while enhancing color and shine.

My Experience With ENSO 01 Conditioner for Fine Hair

Before I had even stepped out of the shower, I felt a difference. The tricky part about fine hair is that, like all hair, it needs moisture; however, it also becomes easily weighed down. For me, this means being strategic about when and how much conditioner I use, and I often skip it altogether if I am wearing my hair down. This is no way to live! But no matter how many conditioners I have tried for my fine strands, I always feel a heavy layer left behind on my wet hair after rinsing.

You’ll feel the difference right out of the bottle when using ENSO 01 Conditioner for Fine Hair. It's perfectly formulated to be light but luxurious. And I know this probably sounds cliche, but it really feels unlike any conditioner I have used before. And that's a really good thing!

The results? My hair looks and feels moisturized and has a glorious shine, but it never looks or feels weighed down. Check out the before-and-after photos to see what I mean.

The Smell Makes Me So Happy

Showers are an important part of my self-care routine. And when I am really into the smell of a shampoo, conditioner or body wash, it can transform the whole experience into an aromatherapy treatment.

ENSO offers a blend of all-natural fragrances, including jasmine, ylang ylang and yuzu. And as a person who likes to geek out with my diffuser, I know these fragrances have been chosen specifically and with care.

Jasmine has a long history as an aromatherapy powerhouse for its ability to uplift mood and enhance romantic encounters, but it also has antioxidant and antimicrobial benefits when applied topically. Its beautiful and intoxicating aroma has also cemented it a place in haute fragrances like Chanel No.5 and Gucci Bloom.

Ylang ylang has a sweet and distinct aroma, which can be overpowering in excess. No worries here: Its floral scent is perfectly balanced in ENSO’s fragrance profile. And as an added bonus, initial research suggests ylang ylang might help boost self-esteem!

Yuzu is a member of the citrus family and has a deliciously vibrant scent featuring notes of grapefruit, bergamot and lime. Not only have I learned that yuzu makes a great ingredient in cocktails, but also the aroma has been shown to be soothing, relieving anxiety, tension and anger, among other things.

The Takeaway

As someone who has done a lot of trial-and-error with products for fine hair, I can wholeheartedly recommend VEGAMOUR’s new ENSO 01 Shampoo & Conditioner for Fine Hair. (And if you have medium or thick hair, there’s an ENSO for you too!) These formulations for fine hair leave strands soft and hydrated without weighing them down, and your hair will smell delightful all day long.

One last note: Now that you've read my ENSO fine hair review, I urge you to try the shampoo and conditioner for yourself! I'm confident you will not regret it!
